After the hot Indian summer, comes the great Indian monsoon. Monsoon comes as a great relief from the three months of blistering heat extending from the month of April to June.

The time from the mid-June to July is particularly overwhelming for breath-taking green scenic beauty. The time when summer makes way for monsoon, frequent rains make the environment cold and green.

Hill stations are some of the best places to combat the Indian summer during this time. Because of the elevation, the temperature on Hill Stations remains far below the lower regions in the surrounding.

1. Ooty—Queen of Hills

The scenic hill station bounded by lush landscape, Ooty welcomes you with an enjoyable weather and a plenty of places of interests to discover.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Ooty was 25 °C (77 °F), which by South Indian standards is uncharacteristically low for an all-time record high temperature. Average temperature remains between 17-20 C and 5-12 C in summer and winter respectively.

3. Ladakh

4. Gangtok

Situated in the backdrops of the Himalayas, Gangtok is the perfect place to visit during Monsoon. The Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world is also here. Like Ladakh, Gangtok is also home to many Buddhist monasteries: Rumtek Monastery, Enchey Monastery, Do-drul Chorten, and Dodrupchen Monastery.

5. Darjeeling

Visit Darjeeling to witness for breath-taking views in the backdrop of the splendid Himalayas. Visit Himalayan Zoo that is home to many species of Himalayan animals. Also worth visiting are Himalyan Mountaineering Institute, Buddhist Monasteries, Rock Garden, and Japanese Pagoda.
